Changes to the Public Prescription Drug Insurance Plan effective January 1, 2021

On December 29, 2020, the RAMQ published the amendments pertaining to the Public Prescription Drug Insurance Plan effective January 1, 2021. The following are the parameters of the Public Plan that are most often compared with Group Health Insurance plans: 

  • The maximum annual premium increases from $648 to $662, an increase of 2.2%.
  • The monthly deductible increases from $21.75 to $22.25 (from $261 to $267 for the year).
  • Co-insurance lowers from 37% to 35%.
  • The maximum monthly contribution is maintained at $95.31 ($1,144 for the year)

These parameters will apply from January 1 to June 30, 2021.
