Changes to the Public Prescription Drug Insurance Plan effective July 1, 2020

On June 29, 2020, the RAMQ published the amendments pertaining to the Public Prescription Drug Insurance Plan effective July 1, 2020. The following are the parameters of the Public Plan that are most often compared with Group Health Insurance plans: 

  • The maximum annual premium increases from $636 to $648, an increase of 1.9%.
  • The monthly deductible is maintained at $21.75 ($261 for the year).
  • Co-insurance is maintained at 37%.
  • The maximum monthly contribution increases from $93.08 to $95.31 ($1,144 for the year)

These parameters will apply from July 1 to December 31, 2020 and will be subject to change for the period from January 1 to June 30, 2021 according to the press release published by the RAMQ.
